Danish drama opens with Mao

“Politik er krig uden blodsudgydelser. Krig er politik med blodsudgydelser.”

Chinese people were quite delighted to see Mao Zedong’s famous phrase translated into Danish for the political drama Borgen back in Season 1.

Famously, it means:

‘Politics is war without bloodshed. War is politics with bloodshed’

And the original Chinese is as below:

“政治是不流血的战争,战争是流血的政治。”

Zhèngzhì shì bù liúxuè de zhànzhēng、zhànzhēng shì liúxuè de zhèngzhì.
