It’s no secret that Facebook is blocked in China. Fortunately China’s equivalent of WhatsApp, WeChat, has a function very similar to Facebook’s Feed in which you can see all your friends’ posts, photos, and links.
WeChat was rebranded in English in an attempt to take on the word market. It was previously known as Weixin, the Romanized version of its Chinese name, 微信(wēixìn), which literally means ‘micro-message’.
Local people frequently post in English, not to show foreign friends, but rather to show off their language skills. Unfortunately most such posts end up like this one…
